Watching this movie had me questioning it all the time. The comedy sometimes gave me a chuckle but in 2025 it is impossible to ignore the sexist and racist scenes that frequently come up. This film has aged painfully for anyone born after the Vietnam war ended. I was also very perplexed when the film turned into a sports movie??? I hope the show works better than this strange disappointment.

    Escape from New York

    ★★★

Very cool 80s apocalypse esthetic. Its a bit funny looking back of what John Carpenter thought 1997 would have looked like in a alternate world. I like the movie but I found it strange that the US government left New York City (its most economically and culturally significant city) to the worst criminals entirely intact. I feel like the movie has a deeper message to say about American politics but "sticking it to the man" is not that deep.

Mike Myers is running on all cylinders in this one. Voice cast is brilliant, story is simple yet impactful, and its a nostalgia trip for any 2000s kid. This movie singlehandedly put DreamWorks on the map as a successful animation studio. Shrek has since spawned a number of sequels and two great spinoffs.

Finding Nemo but without the early Pixar charm. Not a bad movie but it fails to live up to the standard of the original.
