  My take on this movie is that it’s a near masterpiece but it’s just too damn long. Being the the most cinematic of the Ghibli films though, it was worth seeing in 4K on an IMAX screen and sound system

  Unfortunately this is shot in the least cinematic way possible (2011 showtime action series).
  Goofy script, goofy acting, and disrespected my Tokyo vice queen. 

  Also reminds of the GI Joe movies (derogatory). The switching back and forth from the full screen VFX shots (which are actually good) and in-camera sets just did not work. 

  They should make an edit of the movie where everything but the kaiju fighting is cut out.

  A raw, physical experience of the highest order. Still grappling with some narrative changes from the book but I am confident my troubles will be assuaged upon subsequent viewings. More detail to come later…
