  The lack of debauchery in this show is incredibly unfulfilling given that it was marketed on sex and violence. The directing and editing is underwhelming as there isn't much variety or contrast among shots and in pacing. One can't help but notice the feeling of emptiness during courtroom, banquet and hunting scenes as the cast is limited and there is rarely an exciting score to back what should otherwise be an intense or threatening plot point.   This was a pretty beautiful piece of filmmaking especially considering the miniscule budget. It's evident from the outset that John Farrelly is a phenomenal director and a definite one to look out for. This film is full of colour and candlelight and practically worships it's surroundings. A treat for the eyes. In the beginning, the acting can feel a bit dry which is a shame as irish is such an expressive language but it wasn't initially being utilised as such.…
