Takes a comedic turn and peaks halfway through when Vanya runs off, then starts to drag. Toros steals the show. Makes good use of the setting: a chaotic whirlwind through Brooklyn. Elevates the art of shout-acting à la Marriage Story. Some camera angles are very experimental, but it’s not cohesive. I love multilingual dialogue anyway, but I also enjoyed the hyperrealistic confusion, explanations, and mispronunciations.
Ultimately, this is not a deep film at all and you won’t miss anything by skipping it, but it sure is entertaining.
