The Brutalist 2024
An American epic in every sense of the phrase. At nearly 4 hours, you don't feel the runtime one bit as this movie has so much to say. Not easily digestible, with much to contemplate.
The seductive but all consuming allure of the American Dream, tenuous and exploitative relationship between patron and artist, an immigrant story, other people imposing meaning on someone else's art, capitalism, addiction, sex. The movie is sprawling but somehow keeps it all together.
