Throughout the movie, the movie provoked many emotions, creating empathy for German soldiers, who are commonly looked at as the enemy of WWI. One specific scene that really got me was when Paul died in the same trench that Albert hung the photo of the women from the train station. Following that, when the young soldier, who Paul guided, was getting the names of the fallen soldiers after his fist battle, it really felt like a full circle moment and showed how the armistice of WWI led the world into WWII and that something was going to happen again.
The perfect length movie that combined great animation with a symbolic plot line. Totoro is a great movie that shows the troubles of moving to new places and creating new friendships.
