Mississippi Burning 1988
solid filmmaking, performances and score make me want to rate this higher, but it’s too hard to overlook how much this centres whiteness. it’s obviously in large part due to the age of the film but still it’s hard to justify how voyeuristic the scenes of Black suffering were, and how unrealistic it is that the FBI are the good guys in this story.

(rating not influenced by my lifelong appreciation of ammonites)
