Dumplings 2004
Recommended to me by a dear friend of mine.
Each time they show me a film I have to replace what my number one most fucked up film I have seen is.
Absolutely haunting. Beautiful example of how the male gaze and hyper-femininity spans many cultures around the world.
One of those films that you can’t really recommend to anyone because you are afraid they will think you are sick in the head.
I think I need to watch something light hearted now.

Fucked beyond belief.
The symbolism through paint and colour carried this piece for me. The hazing and scenes where paint are chucked everywhere intertwined with blood dripping from wounds and inflicted injuries made me very happy. The idea that both of these things are man made yet one is external and the other internal. Fascinating.
Been a while since I had my morbid curiosity tantilised. Would watch again.

Captivating start to fonish, Kaufman really knows how to tell a non chronological storyline whilst keeping the narrative plain and simple.
Whilst I am a huge stan for Jim Carrey, this may be one of the only films that I have seen Kate Winslet in, and let me tell you I was shocked! Her performance was on par if not exceeding that of Carrey's. Maybe her character was just written particularly well, my friends pointed out it's very hard not…
