"The Last Jedi" puts forward it's own best foot, paying sincere and loving respect to the legacy it's passing by, while encouraging its inevitable successors to do even better.
Removed from a metatextual level though, this film just has the best straight action, space action, character work, and film form in this whole weird genre series.
