I totally understand why Kidman felt so vulnerable during filming. this movie made me feel so many big feelings about aging, power, and desire to the point where I was analyzing the meaning of Nicole Kidman’s wig choice. Also, it’s deeply refreshing to see a movie where a woman isn’t punished beyond measure for her choices. Finally, some cinema that doesn’t revel in its character’s destruction!!!

If you really want to be in your feelings as a woman, I recommend pairing this movie with Miranda July’s All Fours.

But really - beautifully shot, great acting. If you’ve seen the Witch, expect the same visual style but not cheap, boring or played out. Lily-Rose Depp beat the nepo baby allegations. Willem Defoe is perfect. Nicholas Hoult continues to play vampire’s henchmen which is fun.
