The fridge scene and the lady’s pills trip are some of the wildest things I’ve ever seen in a movie. Watching this in 2025, it’s crazy to think that a film from 2000 still feels so ahead of its time. The way it’s shot, the intensity, the way it completely messes with your head—I just don’t get that same impact from most movies today. Aronofsky is absolutely insane, in the best way possible.
The only thing I don’t like about this movie is that I didn’t make it. The use of aspect ratio shifts to visually represent the feeling of freedom is simply brilliant—freedom that everyone longs for, yet no one truly possesses. We are all trapped within the confines of a boxed frame, and in rare moments, it seems like we might break free… but it’s only an illusion, a fleeting sensation.
I can’t analyze films in a technical sense, but this one is undeniably a masterpiece. And then—bam—“Wonderwall” plays, and that scene is burned into my memory forever.
