I appreciate the premise, but the film falls apart in the third act.
The overarching theme is indeed promising. Given that this is based on true events, I understand the lack of a resolution to the problem of slave-owners. Nevertheless, it still feels flat and the twist was wasted. Maybe the trailers ruined it for me. I don’t know.
