Becoming Led Zeppelin 2025
Incredible archive work, and as a fan of course I’m going to enjoy seeing all the footage and hearing the recordings of this stupendous act, even if the very best stuff is clipped from the astonishing Led Zeppelin DVD. The Bonham interview audio is a real find, it would be half the film without it. The early reconstruction of the pre-band years, including Page and Jones’ adventures in the swinging 60s session scene, is fascinating.

Absurd that there’s a subplot in this that’s literally Ikiru, in which Miyazaki buys a plot of land across from his desk and waits for the local children to come and play on it — only he’s not a bureaucrat who’s wasted his life, he’s perhaps the greatest living filmmaker, adored by millions, struggling to complete a late masterwork while his friends drop like flies.
And of course he drives a 2CV. Of course he does.
