Longlegs 2024
I finished this movie and thought “That was really weird. I think I liked that.” This movie attempted to summit the Everest of horror premises by having the Big Bad be Satan/devil worshippers. Putting your audience into a universe where this is a compelling force to fight against is not easy. A lot of movies do it very poorly. A couple have done it perfectly. This one did pretty well. Somewhat unfulfilled character arcs, a few short cuts taken when you could have just told your story better, but overall very well directed and produced. Nicolas Cage was actually my favorite performance by far.

Joe Pesciiii, Bubbyyyyy why’d ya make such a bad movie. I literally fully expected him to “get the girl” by the end of the movie it was so cheesy. A lot of recycled shots, a lot of melodramatic dialogue scenes that just made me confused about what the motivations were. Had some funny lines, and the side-roles had some genuinely good performances. But it also seemed like a lot of opportunities to give Joey P’s character an actual reason to…
