Yes the climax was insane but I still feel like I had to endure the other 80% of the movie. I wish it would have been shorter with the reveal happening 30 minutes in but instead I was dragged through 1h20 of campy melodrama. Don't get me wrong, I was cackling and thoroughly enjoying the last 1/3 but I just don't think it was enough to make up for the rest.

Jake Gyllenhaal's performance in this movie is astonishing. His character is so well written and it's one of the best portrayal of sociopathic behavior I've ever seen in a film. The cinematography, the dialogue, the soundtrack.. everything is just so tense and unnerving. Brilliant film!

I'm so glad I got to see this on the big screen... and then 12 more times on a smaller screen... This film is still a great experience after many many rewatch. I just can't get enough of that synth at the end and that bear reliably makes my skin crawl.
