The most glorious, ecstatic "ending" to a movie love story since l'Atalante. Probably my personal favorite of the three; but why choose

My Own Private Idaho 1991
It's such a beautiful, dreamy movie that you might miss how formally interesting it is: a queer, modern-language take on Welles' _Chimes at Midnight_, but centering Poins, instead of Falstaff (both movies blend a handful of Shakespeare plays involving Prince Hal). All the scenes involving Bob are literal quotes from _Chimes_; it's an earlier--and more lively--version of the experiment he did again in more extreme form with his _Psycho_ remake.

Do the Right Thing 1989
Sometimes you need to just listen. First saw it in 1989, in the theater, when we all of us, the whole crowd, sat in our seats throughout the credits so we could get ourselves together before stepping out into the night and our dinners. I've seen it around a dozen times since. It's life; it's a question in the form of an explosion.
