Evergreen casting—this would have been a fun crew to watch in almost anything; Yeun, Ackie, and Pattinson(s) are great, the ensemble actors shine, and Ruffalo is Ruffalo. The movie’s central idea—a disposable, clone-able, employee handles dangerous tasks aboard a spaceship—sets an interesting stage.
Unfortunately, every other part of Mickey 17 blows intergalactic chunks. I would describe the writing as, “irredeemable,” with stilted dialogue, a jerky plot, and cartoonishly over-the-top villains. The CGI sucks, the political commentary sucks, and the character arcs…
