Somehow this movie is so comforting despite the whole cannibalism of the abusive ex-husband, and everything else going wrong. Classic.
I've always seen clips, but never sat through the whole movie. I can't tell if I really think it's good, or if society hyped it up so much for 30+ years, I can't give is a fair review. It doesn't matter, I love the 80s clothes and music.
Here's my best attempt at an unbiased review. I loved the black and white. So many great shots. I loved the limited dialogue with all the background sounds. It was funny, authentic and heartfelt. This movie was so simple, and it just felt like real conversations between friends.
Somehow through simply looking for a lost cat and eating wawa on the curb, this movie perfectly captured friendship, and the bittersweet feeling when those friends move on. We need more movies…
With Pope Francis not doing well recently, I hope this is the only Conclave I see this year.
Considering this movie is pretty suspenseful, it was difficult for me to give it my full attention a second time around.
