Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. This is just a great looking movie with amazing acting. I don’t think I expected more than that and was satisfied. You can’t stray too far away from the original story so as a director you’re bound to disappoint newbies and classic purists. But people who acknowledge the craft of film making will enjoy it.

A mix of beloved influences to give us something incredibly suspenseful, visually stunning, and conceptually interesting. I think if you love Sinister, Silence of the Lambs, and It follows, this is right up your alley. My critique is that it didn’t need any of its stings. The mood is already there and the little jump scares, however few there were, I felt were pandering to people who are expecting a Conjuring level fright.
