  Stunning & beautiful & funny & heartbreaking all at once. We would all be so lucky to create a debut feature even fractionally as assured as Nyoni’s story of a girl-turned-government witch. It’s movies like this that reminds me: fuck Hollywood through & through. No one actually needs that cesspooled system of navel gazers, money guzzlers & ding dongs to make compelling art. Can’t wait to catch Guinea Fowl. It’s officially the movie I’m most excited for this year.

  Irresponsible, manipulative, and nauseatingly icky. 

  I can’t stress enough how queasy this movie made me. The director gleefully feeds into Morgan’s self-destructive delusions in exchange for a cheap scene or two of “rawness”. What’s really happening is Drucker’s putting their plotless/thesis-less movie before Morgan’s mental health. Unabashedly so.
