Joy Ride is another raunchy, chaotic, girls' trip movie that’ll knock your socks off in just 95 minutes! This film is all about celebrating friendship, identity, and connecting to your roots, while also keeping a very sex-positive approach (particularly with its emphasis on empowering Asian-American women to explore their pleasure without being fetishized.) What is there to say about The Love Witch that hasn’t already been said? From the striking visuals of vibrant colors on 35mm film to the timeless story that feels plucked straight out of the 1960’s, this film demands your attention like you’re falling for Elaine herself. The perfectly detailed set design paired with the gorgeous makeup and costuming pulls the viewer straight into the universe and doesn’t let them go until the credits roll.

I mean, it’s a cult classic. A cult sapphic classic. & one of my favourite feminist horror films. It sits somewhere between every gen x/millennial femme’s high school fantasy & every gen x/millennial femme’s high school nightmare. Needy & Jennifer are some of the bestest cinematic bffs of all time; smart, witty, interesting, fun, brave, beautiful… while all the men are boring, cringe, insecure, jealous, entitled, &/or evil (but not cool evil, a bumbling dumb-dumb evil that’s super annoying).
