Love the real-time nature of the movie, the long takes, and monologues. Loved to see the contrast between Jesse’s romanticism and Celine’s recent cynicism. Truly identified with the Celine’s attitude toward feminism but also wanting to love and be loved. The tension was palpable between the characters, hitting an emotional high in the car where Celine shares all her misfortunes in her love life. An honest, relatable depiction of young love. This is one of those movies where you need to be fully plugged in to get the full experience. I felt like I hung onto every line from Jesse (played by Ethan Hawke) and Celine (played by Julie Delpy), and I even replayed scenes after the movie ended to re-live all the gems in the screenplay.
Julie and Ethan are FANTASTIC actors. The pinball scene really solidified my opinion here, bc they seamlessly…
