    So, going into this review I did some digging on this site and found that this movie is quite controversial! This film makes it pretty obvious that it's discussing the value of art and artistry in general, but the dissidence comes from what the message of this film truly is. In light of that, I'm going to provide my take as someone who has not studied Lars von Trier, but has studied a lot of philosophy.

    Almost like an adult fairy tale. The mise-en-scene and persistent voice of the narrator gives makes the artifice of the film hyper-present. Instead of filling the world with sparkles and rainbows, however, there's penises and dark rooms. This film treads the line between fantastical and tragically real.
