    I don’t think this one is worth it unless you’re trying to waste some time. I thoroughly enjoy it when a writer/director includes a dialogue about race in a horror film. With that said, this was uncomfortably over the top and occasionally felt as if Lee Daniel’s was far out of his element. As a first foray into horror, it was fine. Glen Close looked as if she was incredibly uncomfortable the entire time, even with Omar Epps flirting with her. Despite all of these issues, Andra Day was excellent and I’m excited to see more from her.

    Eggers continues to be one of the most stylistically substantive creators in cinema. He brings to life a land in which brutal historical reality is balanced with gothic fairy tale imagery. The costume and set pieces feel utterly real and demanding of detailed attention. Every scene could be a painting in its own right.
