  the black boyhood?  not quite — it’s more focused on Inez (Teyana Taylor) than her son Terry, but lots of overlap. coming of age, family strife, etc. also the casting and makeup is so damn good so it almost feels like they followed the cast across the 10+ years covered by this film.

  i loved how coupled the plot and pace were.  initially chaotic and fast-paced with some shaky cam and quick cuts, then slow dialogue scenes and long close…
