Watched this with Lau and it was extremely rewarding. She has heard me gush about and quote this movie for years and I was finally able to show her it.

The “I told you I’m never going back” hits like a fucking freight train. What a fucking moment man. Truly beautiful filmmaking.

So many beautiful relationships here too. Brotherhood, true loves, passing lovers, mutual respect for your mortal enemy. Really great stuff. Charlene kind of a beast. Holding it down.

Cant wait to explain to my child that they will soon understand why Neil goes back for Waingro.

An absolute heater by Soderbeast once again this year. Going from Presence to this in only a few months is wildly impressive from a mindset perspective. The two films could not be more different and Steve knocked both out of the park. Its sexy, smart, intense, and is thrust into greatness by a phenomenal script. Low action but high stakes and extremely thrilling. And best of all, its done in a quick 90. No fat at all here.

Absolutely loved this film. 10:30am, full IMAX theater, used PTO, with the fellas, knew that Buffalo Wild Wings & Barbie were just around the corner. Absolutely ideal circumstances.

There were so many movie defining scenes in this film but the auditorium scene after the test stuck with me. The sound editing was exceptionally haunting. The slight aberration behind Robert as he is realizing just what he has done, and its all foreshadowed earlier in the film. Really great stuff.

David Lynch has the exceptional power of making his audience feel like psychopaths while trying analyze his films in real time. Trying to make sense of his story telling technique as it goes along feels like a herculean effort.

That being said. It is so refreshing to have someone like him around. His films truly feel like art rather than a story because theres no hand holding. He leaves it open for the viewer’s interpretation and its just real nice…
