The Substance 2024
I laughed more than was intended.
This is not a particularly serious film, though it certainly wants to say something about its Topic; there may be an ironic Eternal Recurrence at play, which this director carries into our world through the cruelty employed towards and via her subject, creating a product driven to achieve fleeting feelings over thought, whether that be disgust (to whom?), shock (poor her!), displeasure (oh society!), or fear (me?).

Incomplete 2023
The term “saudade” comes from Portuguese—as a native speaker growing up I used it simply as a way of saying that I missed something or someone. As a child, though, I missed its more complex meaning, one that encompasses a yearning for something that is yet to be, that may never be.

Spider-Man: No Way Home 2021
A nostalgia fever dream that lands it’s moments.
This is one of the better Marvel movies I’ve seen, but it doesn’t offer much beyond that. I had fun throughout and thought the story tied itself together well.
Love that it took 12 movies for this iteration of Peter Parker to get his origin story told! Good for you Sony
