completely enraptured by this movie. the way everyone speaks with extreme gravitas about the mythology and rituals of this underground society in mispronounced latin in between tightly choreographed perfectly shot action scenes that go on so long you forget about the old guy next to you in the theater who smells like cigarettes and loudly goes "oh wow" when someone important gets hit. i would expect a series like john wick to get cheesier and lazier with each entry but this was the coolest fucking movie ive seen in years. rina sawayama was there! she was good too!

i want to like this movie the way i like the previous movies, but lucas black's thick alabama accent just makes me giggle any time he tries to be serious, or make any attempt at speaking japanese. he also looks like a 30 year old playing an 18 year old despite being like 22 when this movie was filmed. maybe it's because i first saw him as pee wee reese in 42, i dunno. sometimes he's supposed to be goofy…

there's something i just love about mid 2000s sleaze. maybe it's just nostalgia talking.
more ridiculous than the first movie, and the premise of "solving x problem by driving good" is already beginning to feel tenuous, but like, i'm still having fun watching paul walker shift into 12th gear to go faster than the other guy, and the Antics are still enjoyable.
we even get more homophobic slurs! in spanish!
