Dog Man keeps Dav Pilkey’s wacky humor while having earnest. A kid’s movie more than a family movie, Dog Man will keep the kids entertained while throwing in some references for the adults (i.e. an apocalypse now reference). The first third of the movie is insanely high paced to get the attention of the kids and sucks you in enough for when the slow moments arrive. An overall good movie with a good story of found family and healing.

This movie feels like if you asked someone to make a musical and they gave what they think their interpretation is of a musical. The movie did have one or two enjoyable moments, like Zoe's singing scene. The movie didn't give the audience moments to breathe, which made the slower moments less appreciated. I can understand why people of Mexican descent would be offended. I feel like with a different director (a la Baz Luhrmann), this movie would have hit the mark a little better, but certainly not the worst I've seen.

Pros: Chris Pratt has found his niche as a voice actor. The visuals felt like Garfield. There were jokes referencing the original comic strip that were nice to see.

Cons: Samuel L Jackson stuck out like a sore thumb in terms of voice acting. Sony can’t help but put references from its other IPs, which it doesn’t need. This movie will only make sense to you if you’re a Garfield fan, but other than that, wait until streaming services.

A coming-of-age film, Didi deals with finding your place in the world while navigating growing pains, love, and family. Taking place in 2008, it brings back the nostalgia of flip phones, selfies with cameras, instant messaging, and even YouTube in its infant stages. The real heart of this film is the relationship between mother and son, how a mother is trying to connect with her ever-emotional teenager. The film emphasizes the cultural differences between generations, and that's where the movie…
