A brilliant lens through which to view the world, or more specifically the US in the not-so-distant past.

The visuals are simultaneously alien and distant and yet so familiar; all accompanied by a brilliant soundtrack. Subjects shown on film elsewhere seem to shine brighter here somehow. Watching this film decades after its release possibly makes the footage of everyday life more profound than it was then. The film certainly has gained a new, time capsule aspect.

On a separate note, I'm not sure if this film is just able to make time-lapse look really good, or if 99% of time-lapse is bad.

Some lovely cinematography in this! Fun storytelling but not as much suspense as I would have liked at times.

A very high density of California Dreamin'. The takeaway food in this film gave me unrealistically high expectations for my own that evening.

Nic Cage does a great job playing Nick Cage. Also, Paddington 2 is a great movie!

This film has some good performances and decent action fun. At some points it takes itself too seriously and at this slower pace the sparkle is gone. However, there are nice splashes of creativity which keep it interesting, including some good diegetic music edits. Most importantly, the film's Cage-ness is healthily high, so there's plenty for fans to notice and enjoy!
