I didn’t rewatch this I just want everyone to know that I still think it’s a 5 star movie
There was really no story. It tried to be a movie about Napoleon’s battles AND his relationship with Josephine but failed at both. Scenes are obviously and horrifically cut for time, and Joaquin Phoenix was a total miscast. He delivered his lines at Austerlitz as though it was his first time saying those words, even though he is supposed to be this revered general. Phoenix plays great social outcasts, and while Napoleon was a freak, it wasn’t the kind of…
