    Khanzab

    ★★½

Another day, another Indonesian horror about vengeful spirits. Khanzab has all the usual ingredients—dark past, eerie atmosphere, and jumpscares you see coming a mile away. It does the job but doesn’t leave much of a mark.

The setting and folklore elements are interesting, but the execution feels formulaic. Some solid creepy moments, but nothing that lingers once the credits roll. If you’re a hardcore horror fan, it’s a decent one-time watch. Otherwise, it’s just another name in the long list of possession horrors.

The atmosphere works in parts, but the overcomplicated storytelling sucks the tension dry. Instead of gripping fear, I mostly sat there wondering, “Was this necessary?” Some decent moments, but nowhere near the first one’s impact.

Ajith still has the swag, Trisha still has the charm, and Arjun still looks like he’s about to say, “Naan villain illa da” at any moment. But the film? It…
