i saw this with MY SISTER!!!!! in new york where she LIVES NOW!!!!!!!!! so i'm probably overrating this but i had a grand old time. robert pattinson loves to do a weird little voice and i love that for him. i was very concerned for zoco. my sister was consistently amused by toni collette's preoccupation with sauce. anyway if it makes anybody else feel better there have been a lot of studies and anecdotal evidence that suggests that most people when they die receive a massive burst of endorphins in their final moments that flood them with a feeling of intense peace and acceptance

That Thing You Do! 1996
i just love this movie, man. certain line readings from it are burned into my brain. “you run—you RUN—offstage—smiling, smiling of course.” it has baby charlize and perfect sleepy-eyed crackly-voiced liv tyler! tom everett scott understands that guys who really love jazz look dumb when they listen to jazz and he bravely allows himself to look so dumb several times, for realism. the epilogue intertitle cards are exactly right. the direct-to-camera wink from lamar at the end is almost unforgivable, but hey.

Oppenheimer 2023
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
nolan has reached the point where he’s so famous that people are afraid to edit him, which results in half-baked, bloated stories.
florence pugh is in a totally different movie than david krumholtz, who’s in a totally different movie than robert downey jr. and they could all be interesting movies (well, maybe not florence’s if it’s written by nolan, who last spoke to a woman in 1993) if only they got the time and focus they deserve.
like, i would…

The Age of Innocence 1993
it's not a great sign when the best part of the film adaptation of a book is when the voiceover narration literally just reads the book aloud to you
me (thinking): i bet the audiobook of this movie would be really good
