This movie felt like reading a book where each chapter made up an anthology that was connected by the singular figure of Beau. The dissection of chapters is performed by some kind of unexpected violence that seems to seek Joaquin Phoenix. By the end, Beau is held on trial for the decisions that led him to the violence, but ironically it was his lack of decision-making that leads him to his end.
