Bird 2024
The social realism is balanced with the Perfectly peculiar, Loved the moments of comedy (especially enjoyed the Saltburn gag). Nykiya Adams excels and Franz Rogowski successfully creates an ethereal and other worldly entity. Opening sequence on the e scooter is exquisite.

More laughs than I thought there would be & the gasps that were heard at the final twist were excellent. Stakes amped up nicely by urgency and impending doom of the external factors. Effectively felt isolated with them from the outside world but the threats still felt imposing. Colour palette was perfection and score was beautiful. Ralph Fiennes particularly shines.

Cinematography is Stunning stunning stunning (particularly love the details shots and unconventional camera positions eg the single take in kitchen into garden). But I found the out of place shaky cam/dramatic zooms take you out of the moment and curb the momentum of the storyline at points. The cat deserves an Emmy nod. However, the dialogue feels very expositional - maybe due to its book adaption? Kate Blanchett’s voiceover feels like a robotic Siri reading out the weather forecast. The scene transition effect (into flashbacks) is giving year 7 slide transition. The moments of humour are effective.
