  Jeez, harsh reviews, guys. Not sure what people expect from a popcorn action movie but I was pleasantly surprised. It may have had some plot holes and been a little silly but overall an entertaining action pic with solid performances from J.Lo and even the kid.   There’s a lot about Possum to appreciate. It contains some deeply disturbing and frightening imagery. The production evokes a time and place of extreme gloom and dread. And while Sean Harris isn’t given too much to work with, he ably portrays his nameless character’s depressing emotional trauma and damage.   Unrelentingly grim. I so wanted this to be better but while I’ve seen worse, it was just meh. It tried to address several weighty themes (environmental destruction, drug abuse, child abuse) but didn’t successfully focus on any. I also could definitely have done without the magical native american and the cliched ending.
