The social commentary was really surface level and occasionally too on the nose, the plot was so convoluted and filled with way too much expository voice over. I feel like there were so many philosophical and ethical dilemmas this movie just introduced without really diving into, which is annoying considering how painfully slow that third act was.
Two and a half stars for two Robert Pattinsons and cute creepers.

I don't really get the disappointment some people have with this movie not being "political" enough. It's clearly not about picking "sides" politically, but about the role journalism plays during war. Showing how truth itself can be a weapon during civil unrest, how journalists can also "shoot" in a war and be side by side with soldiers.
The theme of how war can affect people is also displayed really well with Jessie, she literally goes from barely being able to…
