I watched this before The Batman came out, and I had to do it again after Mickey 17. Pam and I were a bit more lucid at this point (see my The Darjeeling Limited review for the same day). We also had the very important discussion of “which of Rob’s roles is Mickey 17 or 18?” Here’s my verdict:

Writing my review about a train movie on a train back to London.
I watched this yesterday with Pam in Amsterdam - which I hope is ample context to say that I barely knew what was going on in the film.
The bright colours and neatly boxed framing (through and through Wes Anderson) really drew me back to The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Bubblegum wrapper blues, sunflower yellows and lollipop reds. It’s the one case where the hot ethnic country orange…
