times i cried during this movie: 1. first phone call with nainai, 2. when billi finds out nainai has cancer, 3. when billi talks about yeye, 4. when they go back to the US.
however, as much as i would love to have loved this movie, it felt like just a retelling of a series of events, there wasn’t really a story. it would’ve been nice to see billi’s childhood and how she formed such a strong relationship with her…Translated from by -

The High Note 2020
tracee ellis ross is amazing. living your LA producer fantasy through dakotah johnson. very beachy, very california, 10/10. plus, dakotah johnson’s character’s little love story fit perfectly on the side of the main story. however, the speed of the movie was questionable... definitely some sections that should’ve been shorter and some that needed more push. i can’t write reviews, but recommend. i’m also just a sucker for living out your dream, ‘devil wears prada’ type movies.
