Anything over 2.5 stars means I liked and enjoyed it, it's not me being a hardass. Heart means I'd watch it again.

Do the Right Thing 1989
Disappointingly, a salient, poignant, yet relevant piece.
Pros:
- Last 30 minutes transcend this movie from "really good" to "great" territory. It's appalling how a movie produced almost 34 years ago is still relevant. Lines of dialogue still uttered today.
- I worry about ensemble-based casting because names can often get lost in the fray. Thankfully, each character is fleshed and distinct enough to have not only memorable names, but names I remembered by the end of the movie. The…Translated from by -
The Birdcage 1996
I literally cannot review this movie because watching it on a TV with motion smoothing and dialogue boost both on has ruined cinema. This movie is straight unwatchable. I'm sure this is a great movie, but everything looks like a soap opera and uncanny. Why do companies turn this AI shit on by default and make it impossible to turn off?

- I was surprised to learn that this is *not* a biopic. The story is so intriguing and well-paced. The first act is especially…Translated from by -
Singin' in the Rain 1952
A joyful feel-good musical that's way better than it has any right to be. I'm normally biased against musicals, but Singin' in the Rain is welcome to my personal favorite musicals list.
Pros:
- This movie is goddamn hilarious. The juxtapostion of witty remarks, slapstick, and subtle reactions all make for a phenomenal first half.
- Incredible performances by the marquee cast- I really can't name a single favorite out of the three, as all of them carry the film…Translated from by
