Driving Miss Daisy 1989
I was in highschool when this came out, had no interest in seeing it then, thought I'd give it a try 35+ years later I guess? Came across very much like a stage play rather than a movie. Morgan Freeman's character was a bit too on the nose. It got better as the story went on, but my eyes rolled hard during the MLKJr speech scene. I'm sure it was very poignant at the time. Loved seeing Esther Rolle, and Freeman was the best part of this, despite the cheese.

Supergirl 1984
I'm not sure what the state of things were in 1984, but my sense is that the movie studio wanted a Superman movie for women, thought women wanted romance, found a woman to make a woman's movie, said woman had a script for a witch movie that the studio wouldn't greenlight, so she put Supergirl in the story and this movie got made. If you take Supergirl out, this an entertaining witch movie (with an absurd and long sequence involving a front end loader). With Supergirl, it's just a ridiculous mess.
