I’ve been meaning to watch this movie for a while and am very glad that I finally sat myself down. This movie blends heartfelt and soulful moments into a lighthearted and fun comedy about a true story. With a start studded cast of Rainn Wilson, Annette Bening, Larry Wilmore and others led by Bryan Cranston, each character delivers their role and story remarkably. Themes of identity, purpose, and longing for recognition support a much greater theme of family. This film depicts relationship love, familial love, and connection. This movie is a fun watch for a good laugh, heart, and a nice smile.
13 Going on 30 is a classic rom-com. It combines elements of soul, humor, heart, and identity into one heartfelt film. Jennifer Garner delivers an outstanding performance as she navigates the struggles of her character finding herself and her purpose. Make Ruffalo delivers another outstanding performance as the male lead, depicting struggles of coming to terms with past decisions. This warm story of young love finding its way in life mixes in bits of humor and drama that encapsulates the audience into the relationship between the two leads.
This movie tackles issues of purpose, drive, identity, and relationships with others. Miles Teller delivers an incredible performance, convincing the audience of his irrational drive to be one of the best drummers of all time. We cannot help but to identify with his character in whatever our personal drives and passions may be.
