The Brutalist 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Wonderfully creative in parts but something about this as a character study/historical epic feels very generic to me…and the epilogue my goodness I really did not like it, that synth pop remix of the main theme, the shitty digital camera shots like we get it it’s the 80s…Adrien Body comically drooling in a wheelchair…but looking back it explores trauma in such a subtle way I really enjoy that.

The Beta Test 2021
A 90 minute long anxiety attack basically. And I loved every minute. What an absolutely bonkers fever dream of a movie. No one plays unhinged like Jim Cummings; he rides that razor thin line between scary crazy and funny crazy so incredibly well. Big love to Jim and PJ! Can't wait for the next few (a comedy about journalism and another set in Victorian times?? Yes I stayed for the after movie Q&A)

The Story of Looking 2021
A lot of thoughts swimming around my head after this one, and I really can't decide whether I like it or not. For most of this film I was wondering if I would actually enjoy having a conversation with Mark Cousins IRL or if I would find him absolutely insufferable.
There's some beautiful stuff in here, and I agree with Mark's sentiment for the most part, but ultimately The Story of Looking falls flat with its repetitiveness and constant bombardment…
