Calling this movie claustrophobic doesn't begin to it justice. A relentlessly grim bloodbath. The most scared I've ever been in a theater. The scene where we first see the monster is forever seared into my brain. Girl Power!

A lot more fun and funnier than I was expecting, Yojimo delivers yet another dynamite performance from Toshiro Mifune and tells a perfectly compact and thrilling story of the original Man With No Name playing two hilariously inept but still cruel gangs against each other. Not my favorite Kurosawa but a blast to watch.
