This film reminded me of how splendid it is to see burst of color and dramatic changes of scene. Something to indulge it if you need some inspiration and enjoy fantasy.

The Substance 2024
What a movie. As the movie progressed the changeover scenes and mysterious voice of the substance provider preaching balance reminded me of any physical transformation we wish to reach. We must find acceptance for our current selves in order to reach our desired state. If not, the result is a monster that thrashes around discarding the self that got us this far. And the film ultimately ends with a quite literal take on the beast of self-hatred. Bravo, a splendid display of gore and glory.

What a delight for the eyes to journey through a world steeped in a decadent fusion of mediums brought to life through costume and set design. Never mind Emma Stone’s committed performance as a woman coming into her own authenticity through relationships, this film is an absolute must and reminds me why the Oscars exist.
