The actors could certainly act, but if you've seen the trailer, you've seen the film. Not worth seeing.

The fucking butterfly sent me off a cliff, not to mention the miraculous minutes of survival and agility Mr. Reed exhibits after being stabbed in the throat.

I finally know what scene The Simpsons was referencing when Milhouse is confronted in the tunnel at the dam.

This has everything you want in a 90s action film: Tommy Lee Jones vs. Harrison Ford, incredible practical effects and stunts, a passable mystery, and a hero who needs to outdo himself in every situation (defying the laws of both common sense and physics). I appreciated the big villain reveal towards the end because it wasn't the most obvious choice the writers could've made.

As someone who grew up loving these books, I viscerally hated the film adaptation. The narrative throughline was feeble and contrived. The heavy reliance on digital effects was an affront to the original hand drawn art of the book series. Do not see this, even out of morbid curiosity. You're better off watching the new Goosebumps series - seriously, you'll at least have more fun.

I just saw this a few hours ago and I think I need to reflect a bit more before completing my thoughts on it.
The practical effects in this were a triumph. Sure, there was some digital but you could easily forget about those in the face of the physical ones.
