Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio 2022
A truly beautiful movie, both in its aesthetics and its story. The time period is perfect, the crucifix and the fascist camp work wonderfully. Ewan McGregor was cricketing a little too hard sometimes and his symbolism was a bit on the nose, but I liked how he was generally worked into the story. This is truly a great movie with something important to say and it deserves all the recognition it is getting.

Avatar: The Way of Water 2022
Very good, gives of soft reboot vibes since it takes a lot of beats from the first. Very well made and looks incredible. I’d say it’s better than the first but I love water, so maybe I’m biased. I enjoyed seeing a new tribe of Na’vi and the family dynamics were one of the best part of the movie. A couple of the characters could have been stronger, and there were some plot holes.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish 2022
Shockingly fantastic. Great animation, voice acting, and characters. The story set up is a bit tropey and I wish the whole map bit and the dark forest were more inventive, but the execution is good and a ton of fun. The villains are all a blast and make the audience feel different about each one. I’d highly recommend this movie.
