    I watched this once and immediately ran it back.

    I wondered why they chose the first-person perspective, following something like Emmanuel Lubezki's work on "The Tree of Life" (in which producer Brad Pitt acted) or even Benoît Debie's work on "Enter the Void."     I didn't dislike this movie, but I don't think it works. To have Vinyard's ramblings about white supremacy uncontested and make him realize his mistakes through rape does not function adequately and leaves those ideas unresolved.

    Avery Brooks, as Bob Sweeney, working as an English teacher, principal, and history teacher in three years, is unintentionally funny. Plus, the scene in which he tells Murray that he has to withstand Danny's Mein Kampf essay is hilarious and tone-deaf. Imagine how wrong…
