Wicked. Very much Bong Joon Ho. Pattinson is doing a great voice the entire time. Mark Ruffalo is doing his best impression of Elon Musk and it’s really unsettling but the effect is great. Fun concept, pretty solid execution, very much a reflection of our political zeitgeist. Not quite as good as Parasite but that’s an extremely high bar.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023
Phenomenal. Truly pushes the boundary of what is possible with modern animation techniques and hardware. Every scene, hell every frame is full of detail. Environments and backgrounds change with the tone of a scene, characters are animated in different styles side-by-side. The stylistic choices and design carry this movie because the script certainly doesn’t. I have to knock off points for being a two part story without really resolving either of the two major plots, being Miles’ identity and the big bad. There are individually well written scenes but something about the script felt lacking overall. Loved Spider-Man 2099 too.

The Green Knight 2021
Saw this a few weeks ago. Probably too heady for your average audience but as a movie it’s incredible. Beautiful cinematography, incredible attention to detail and costume design, fantastic performances especially by Patel. However, I do rate this movie lower because it’s so unapproachable.
