Carbon copy of the original, which could be a pro or con depending on how you look at it. It does capture a good amount of the magic of the animated version, though, which I don’t usually find true for live action remakes.

at some earlier points I wanted it to be crazier, but when it did start to get wacky, it didn’t quite land for me. but definitely a fun time, mostly thanks to mark ruffalo’s his teeth acting and toni collette’s sauce obsession

Missing the magic and ambiguity I was expecting from Eggers but still beautifully done

I think I mostly liked this one because there aren’t nearly enough romance movies coming out lately. I miss love triangles where I’m genuinely torn between both options — it felt like Harry didn’t get enough of a chance to shine. And I didn’t believe in Lucy and John at all.
